A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

I believe that the title to this book is a little deceiving. Not that I didn't enjoy it, but it wasn't exactly what I thought that it was going to be about. I was taken aback by the fact that there were vampires in this novel and sadly it was a little similar to that of the Twilight series. However, I very much enjoyed the story. Harkness has a very descriptive writing style that I was easly able to lose myself in. I have to admit that some parts of the story drug on and on. Describing Matthew's mother's house in a full chapter was rather boring.

But all in all, I enjoyed the characters and the plot of the story. Very well written.  I loved the fact that this book incorporated a lot of science and history. It made things more interesting. The main downfall was the length of the book and some of the unnecessary things that Harkness described. I do, however, recommend this book to anyone who is interested in YA Science Fiction. It certainly captured my attention.
